Say goodbye to 2019 folks, because 2020 is just around the corner! We know New Year’s Eve can mean a great party, and we wanted to compile a list of activities in the Edmonton area that you wouldn’t necessarily feel guilty participating in come the next morning. Oh, and did we mention that four out of the five activities we listed are family-friendly? You’re welcome 😜.
1) Family Fest in Stony Plain, from 6:00PM – 9:00PM:
Heritage Park is hosting Family Fest – a local tri-area New Year’s Eve event in Stony Plain. This indoor and outdoor event has something for everyone with horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, outdoor skating, bonfires, hot dogs, and a live DJ and dance. You don’t have to feel guilty about keeping the kids up too much past their bedtime for this event, because the fireworks cap off the night at 9:00PM leaving you plenty of time to get the kids home to bed. Parking is limited, so carpool if at all possible. And don’t forget to dress for the weather!
2) PVCC NYE Gala in Spruce Grove, from 5:30PM – 2:00AM:
Ring in 2020 by heading to the Parkland Village Community Centre for this one of a kind “murder mystery” gala. The interactive and comedic performance of “Resort to Murder” will leave audience members checking in to the latest murder destination to try and solve the case. A three-course dinner provided by Sandyview Farms is to follow afterwards, then dance the night away well into the New Year. Tickets are $45.00 and can be purchased by contacting 780-948-1632.
3) World Waterpark’s Family Beach Ball at West Edmonton Mall, from 6:00PM – midnight:
If you’re bummed you didn’t get a chance to escape this winter weather for a more sunny location during the holidays, we’ve got you covered. Head over to West Edmonton Mall’s Waterpark for their annual Family Beach Ball, where you can enjoy a tropical environment, splashing in the wave pool, and speeding down some waterslides. The night will end with a spectacular indoor fireworks display. Tickets are $120.00 for a family of four.
4) Release and Renewal: Yoga Retreat in Edmonton, from 7:00PM – 10:00PM
If yoga is your jam, then look no further. Spend your New Year’s Eve unwinding and setting the stage for personal growth in the New Year. Start the evening off by participating in a yoga flow class to the sounds of live music. Next, you’ll take part in a workshop dedicated to self-discovery and mindfulness, and then head back for a restorative yoga nidra class. The three-hour session will end with a ‘cheers’ to 2020! The cost for this yoga workshop is $80.00 and tickets can be purchased by clicking this link.
5) NYE Burlesque Show & Cocktail Pairing at Woodwork, from 9:30PM – 1:00AM
This one’s for the grownups! Everyone that knows us knows that we love a good cocktail. Woodwork is one of our favorite places to go because the vibe there is unlike any other place we’ve been, and their cocktails are to DIE FOR! We even got a little giddy when we heard they were hosting a burlesque inspired NYE event. Each of the six individual burlesque performances will be expertly paired with a custom craft cocktail. Small plates, bar snacks, and other cocktails will be available for purchase before and after the show. Tickets are steep at $135 per person (early bird tickets), but if you’re looking to splurge this NYE, we think this might be a wonderful option.
