Top 5 Things To Do in January

January 02, 2020

You’d think January would be a relatively slower month for activities to take in, in and around the Tri-Area. Think again! We’re pretty excited about our Top 5 list this month. Every single activity is one we haven’t featured in our blogs before. Check it out!

1) Family Yoga at the Spruce Grove Public Library, on Saturday, January 5th from 10:15AM – 11:15AM:
What better way to get back into a fitness routine and shed those holiday pounds by getting the whole family involved? This yoga class is for the whole family to enjoy. Try something new, get active and spend some family time together on a Saturday morning. Bring your own mat/towel (if preferred) and water bottle, or feel free to use mats that will be available for program use instead. This event is FREE, but space is limited. Make sure to call 780-962-4423 to reserve your spot.

2) Spruce Grove Crib Tournament at the Canadian Brewhouse on Sunday, January 26th from 11:00AM – 5:00PM:
Dust off that crib board folks, because the Canadian Brewhouse is hosting a Crib Tournament. Sign up your team of two for $50.00 and be guaranteed three matches, all you can eat taco bar, drink specials, as well as your chance at winning some pretty incredible prizes. Call the Canadian Brewhouse in Spruce Grove to buy your tickets.

3) 2020 Boxing Alberta Provincial Championships at the Super 8 by Wyndham in Spruce Grove on Saturday, January 25th – Sunday, January 26th:
Spruce Grove is lucky to be hosting the Provincial Boxing Championships. Spectators can expect to see a range of local and provincial amateur boxing talent. A weekend pass will cost you $55.60, and with a slew of fights expected, you’re sure to get your money’s worth.

4) 2020 Parkland Math Kangaroo Clubs for Kids at the Spruce Grove Public Library, Sundays from 1:30PM – 3:00PM, January 19th – March 22nd:
Parents, do you have a child in grade 3-6 that is a math lover? The Math Kangaroo Club Competition introduces youngsters to math challenges in a fun and enjoyable way, inspiring their further interest and advancement in mathematics. This wonderful math enrichment opportunity exposes kids to mathematical games and puzzles they typically wouldn’t be exposed to in their regular day to day classroom. Each weekly session is $15.00, but kids get to compete in a National Math Kangaroo Contest. How cool is that? Register by following this link.

5) The Play Café in Spruce Grove.
If you’ve got a little one at home, this is for you! The Play Café is Spruce Grove’s newest indoor play place for young kids. Enjoy a delicious cup of specialty coffee or a mouth-watering freshly baked treat while your kids hang, slide, roll, or lounge around in the play area. We’re kind of in love with this place because the ladies that own The Play Café are local to the Tri-Area. Prices are more than reasonable, and rest assured that these ladies will treat you like family the minute you walk through the doors. ‘Like’ them on Facebook by following this link to stay up to date on upcoming events or promotions.
