It seems as though we made it through the worst part of winter – thank goodness! We’ve got quite the list of things to check out in Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, & Parkland County later this month. It’s going to be a busy last couple of weeks in March and some of these you’re not going to want to miss.

1) Gord Bamford Rednek Music Fest – Thursday March 19th at the Tri-Leisure Centre from 7:00PM – 10:45PM.

Are you a country music fan? If so, look no further than this event. Gord Bamford and special guests are coming right here to Spruce Grove! We’ve heard he puts on quite a show, and with other artists like Jess Moskaluke, Duane Steele, and Eric Ethridge to name a few, it’s sure to be a good night. This is an all ages’ show. Tickets are $54.95 and can be purchased here.

2) 3rd Annual Kids Can Cook Celebration – Friday, March 20th at Heritage Park in Stony Plain from 6:00PM – 9:00PM.

Enjoy a catered dinner as well as samplings of some of the very best local chefs and their school teams as they showcase their culinary talents. All recipes will include produce grown by participating students in their school gardens. Proceeds from this event will go directly to the Green Growing Initiatives Program in Parkland School Division. Tickets range between $12.00 – $20.00 and can be purchased here.

3) 4th Annual Classic Invitational Floor Hockey Tournament for Special Olympics West Central – Sunday, March 21st at the Tri-Leisure Centre from 9:00AM – 5:00PM.

Through Special Olympics, athletes develop sport skills, social skills and self-esteem, which assist them in becoming actively involved in recreational, educational and employment opportunities in their local affiliates across the province. Make your way down to the Tri-Leisure Centre and cheer these teams on as they compete in this invitational floor hockey tournament.

4) Taylor’s Hula Hoop Class – Sunday, March 22nd at Perks Coffee House in Stony Plain from 2:00PM – 4:00PM.

This introduction to hula hooping is perfect for beginners and no experience is necessary. Expect a mix of a low impact core workout with simple hoop dance combos where you’ll learn step by step and can even practice at home! Who doesn’t want to channel their inner 8 year old and give this a try, right? Tickets are $25.00 and can be purchased here.

5) Front Door Hanging Plant Stand – Wednesday, March 25th at Whimsical Vintage Creations in Stony Plain from 6:30PM – 9:30PM.

Create and customize a beautiful hanging plant stand for your front porch. Choose from their many colours and long list of sayings to truly customize your stand. Grab a girlfriend and make it a girl’s night! Cost is $65.00 and includes all of the materials. Tickets can be purchased here.
